Google Class Idea

I have been thinking about creating and offering a class on Google for a long time.  Many people don’t realize all the other features that are associated with their Gmail account.

Gmail: More Than Just Email

A 5 week course (two hours per week) on how to get the most out of your Gmail account.  Learn how to use other features like calendar and drive.

Week 1: Gmail – Make Your Email Work For You or Managing Overload

• Personalize your email account by choosing a theme, creating a unique signature and adding a picture.
• Organize your email with stars, labels and filters and find emails faster.
• Communicate better with autoreplies and via other modes (phone, chat)

Week 2: Chrome and Search

• What is Chrome and why do I want to use it?
• Searching better and more efficiently by knowing how it works.
• Learn tricks like typing in weather and your location to have the weather display in the results.

Week 3: Calenders and Maps

• Customize your calendar view and add calendars.
• Maximize use of notifications and share with others.
• Create your own maps and share them.
• Learn how to add multiple destinations and use street view.

Week 4: Google +

• Learn how to manage your privacy settings and create your profile.
• Create circles and communicate with your friends and family.
• Share pictures and videos.

Week 5: Drive and Other Possiblities

• Create word documents, spreadsheets, powerpoints and drawings.
• Organize and share files.
• Explore other features associated with a Google account like Wallet.

Youtube, Picasa and Hangouts are discussed in Multimedia & the Internet, which is why they are not present here.
