Types of Classes

Accounts and Passwords – Creating, setting up and managing online accounts can be complicated. We will be discussing password management, how to reset passwords and the importance of your email account.  
Basic Documents – Welcome to Google Docs! This course is designed to familiarize students with the most commonly used functions offered by Google. To explore all the features, we will be creating a flyer to learn basic text editing and working with photos. Please have a Gmail account and bring the username, password, and your laptop to class. There are a limited number of laptops available.
Basic Presentations – Welcome to Google Presentations! This course is designed to familiarize students with the most commonly used functions offered by Google. To explore features, we will be creating a short presentation with clip art, formatting text and arranging slides. Please have a Gmail account and bring the username, password, and your laptop to class. There are a limited number of laptops available.
Basic Spreadsheets – Welcome to Google Spreadsheets! This course is designed to familiarize students with the most commonly used functions offered by Google. To explore features, we will creating a basic spreadsheet, formatting the sheet and creating a basic graph. Please have a Gmail account and bring the username, password, and your laptop to class. There are a limited number of laptops available.
Beginner Computers – The Beginner’s Guide to Computer Basics will introduce you to the fundamentals of how to use a computer. This course is intended for those with minimal experience and those interested in becoming more comfortable with computers. By the end of course, you will be able to turn on a computer, adjust the computer settings for your comfort and do a basic internet search.
Beginner Smartphones and Tablets – Smartphone and Tablets Beginner starts at the very beginning, talking about the jargon and showing you the basics like how to turn your device on and off. Also, it covers many of the communication tools available like: making phone calls, texting and email. Please bring your charged device. All operating systems and carriers are welcome.
Beyond Basics – So you know how to use a computer, kind of. This class takes your skills to the next level getting a better grasp of uploading/downloading, file management, understanding the internet, and working with graphics.
Buying Guide for Smartphones and Tablets – Thinking about buying a smartphone, tablet or computer, but don’t know what to look for? Learn the difference between the devices, features you need to consider, accessibility issues and what they can do for you.
Confused About Online Accounts – Do you have a lot of accounts and passwords? Are you having trouble understanding what they all do, how they are connected and what they do? In this class, we will attempt to straighten things out, identify the most important accounts and give you methods to organize your online accounts.
Cut the Cable – Is your cable bill outrageous? Learn how to cut the cable, but still be able to watch most of your shows for less money.
Digital Photos – Need help managing and editing your digital photos? This class will show you to import photos from a digital camera and download them from the internet. Once the photos are on the computer, we will organize them into folders, rename and add tags. Lastly, we will use Pixlr to learn how to do a few simple edits to our photos. 
Email Q&A – In Email Q&A, we will answer questions about your email account.  This class is geared towards those that know how to use email, but may still have a few questions.  Bring your questions. 
Facebook Q&A – All of your family is on Facebook and your grandkids set you up with an account. Now what? I will show you how to navigate, post and hopefully have fun on Facebook. Bring your questions!
ID Theft and Data Protection – Due to all the hacks with the various companies, a consumer must keep tabs on their information. How do you keep track of your information and do as much as you can to minimize your identity theft risks?
Instagram – Do people keep talking about their Instragram account?  Are they telling you to get one?  In this class, we discuss what Instragram is and the basics of how it works.  
Intermediate Smartphones and Tablets – Smartphone and Tablets Intermediate teaches you how to use some of the more complicated apps on your device, like maps, calendar, camera and internet. Please bring your charged device, make sure you have email setup and bring necessary passwords. All operating systems and carriers are welcome.
Internet Q&A – In Internet Q&A, we will answer questions about the internet.  This class is geared towards those that know how to use the internet, but may still have a few question. Bring your questions. 
Internet Safety – Learn how to keep your information and computer safe. Tips and tricks to help you minimize viruses and prevent identity theft.
Organizing Your Digital Life – Are digital photos and files taking over your computer? Can’t find anything on your computer? We will show you how to use the file management program on your computer to create, delete and rename files and folders and, of course, we will back it all up.
Selling Your Stuff Online – Want to sell your stuff online, but don’t know where to start? We will demonstrate how to post to Craigslist.  Then, we will be comparing the different online selling platforms like Facebook Buy & Sell Marketplace, Ebay, Craigslist and Letgo. 
The Cloud – Everyone keeps talking about “The Cloud”, but what is it and how do you get on it? Learn what “The Cloud” is and how to store or not store your information up there. 
Your Data – In this class we will be discussing issues in regards to our data.  Who owns this data?  What kind of data is being kept?  What are the laws in place to protect an individual’s data?  There are a lot of questions regarding our data, privacy and laws.
