Day 26 – The Technology Box Mix

In a previous post, I compared my business to the cake box mix and the more I think about it, the more I love it.  Box mixes are meant for those people who want to do a little bit of work and save money.  John Duff, the inventor of cake box mixes, had originally created a box mix that didn’t need eggs, but he found out that people preferred to add fresh eggs.  Think of any box mix in the grocery store.  You have to add a couple of ingredients on hand, do a little work, and in the end you get something to eat.

On the internet there are a lot of “box mixes” available for you to use from website builders, picture editors, payroll programs, accounting programs, online storage, point of sale systems, etc.  The bulk of the work is done, but you need to add your information and customize it.  The problem with them is that you don’t know they exist,  you don’t know the best one for what you are trying to do, the cheapest one, what else you need to make them work (the ingredients), or even how to make them work (the instructions).

Getting on the internet and doing the research is not as easy as walking into the grocery store, walking through the aisles and comparing the products.  The products online are on separate websites and everyone has an opinion and you don’t know who to trust.

My business is about showing you your options, giving you the instructions and ingredients, and  being a trusted source.
